Training

Victor Pérez Armero
let dance do the dance

The training sessions I propose aim to create a space of presence and observation. Drawing from craniosacral biodynamics and methodologies rooted in somatic and improvisational movement practices, you will be guided through task-based explorations and group dynamics to modulate and direct attention, while cradling the dance that unfolds.

We will dive into our perception of space (inner and outer) and let it shape the body.

We will include the outside gaze in our awareness, as we invite being seen.

We will give support to the group by being present and generous with each other.

We will attune to detail, sensitivity and the possibility of pausing.

You can expect to work with touch and close proximity to other participants. Bring a notebook, and water 🙂

The classes are held at Dansehallerne, Franciska Clausens Plads 27 DK-1799 Copenhagen V in Studio 3.

Getting there
Studio 3 is located on the ground floor with step-free access from the main entrance.
Continue straight on towards the changing rooms next to the Foyer. Studio 3 is located at the bottom right corner.

Dansehallerne has an elevator with step-free access to all floors. Accessible and gender-neutral toilets and wardrobes are available on the ground floor.

We kindly ask you to arrive 15 minutes prior to class in time for check-in with the QR code on your ticket.

All members can participate in Dansehallerne’s training activities – a year-round program with approximately 5 days of training per week and now also workshops every other week. This is for all professional members regardless of background in dance training, and it is also possible to participate in a drop-in class.

International guests can participate in training for free for up to 1 month. If you have comments or good tips for the training program, you can always send an email to the curators; trainingcurators@dansehallerne.dk

balletalletallet

We’ll point our toes, fall through space, spiral, and befriend gravity and breath. Yes, we’ll also plié, tendu, sous-sus—all that good stuff. But mostly, we’ll sense, move, and care a little less about form while dancing ballet to a wide range of music. It’s a balletalletallet class—come join! I promise the music will be good.

Grounding and Groove

During the morningclass we will work on warming up both body and voice through different excersizes, a strong focus is on rhythmical work as well as how to connect the sound and a movement in a one-on-one manner in order to create an instrument with your body. We will work particularly with grounding and groove, finding ways to access a physicality that is both laid back and rhythmically tight. This will be done through wit the help of music and somatics.

The classes are held at Dansehallerne, Franciska Clausens Plads 27 DK-1799 Copenhagen V in Studio 4.

Practising Connections in Movement

Klein Technique™ is a healing movement practice that works on connections through the body’s deepest structural and energetic tissue—bone. Through dynamic alignment, we maximise the transmission of force through our bodies, deepening our connection to the floor and into space, improving the quality of our movement. We research the anatomy and function of deep structural support to develop connections in movement, creating power, strength, and efficiency.

Whether you are a professional dancer or simply seeking a deeper understanding of your body, these classes offer valuable insights into movement patterns, habits and potential, supporting a profound physical awareness and greater ease of motion.

The classes are held at Dansehallerne, Franciska Clausens Plads 27 DK-1799 Copenhagen V in Studio 4.

Boundaries and sensuality, a dance of the skin

In these classes you will explore the skin, the first organ of touch through which we discover the world. It is the outer boundary that differentiates the physical body from other physical bodies around it, protects the soft tissue, maintains the outer form and enables communication. You will experience how contact with the environment and the other participants changes and becomes clearer.

How and what do you perceive through your skin and how does movement and the quality of movement change when the skin becomes more conscious? How does dance feel when it arises from the sensuality of the skin?

With the help of anatomical information, free movements, individually or in groups and hands-on, you will explore these questions. The result is a dance that combines the intimacy of inner sensations with the diversity of outer experiences and strengthens individual fullness, expressiveness and a sense of self and identity. Bring curiosity about yourself and your environment, and enjoy this great outer layer!

Tuning – bodies as mediation

Through the years, Quim´s explorations has been centered on the ways in which we meet and are changed by the encounters we are a part of. In line with this, everything that is constitutive of a space plays a role for the possibility of tuning into and finding tonalities that gather us. In these professional training classes, you may expect different attempts of tuning in and becoming available through physical practices.

We will be working with a structure that, progressively, opens up issues of togetherness, gathering and belonging. Most of the exercises include the involvement of the senses inside an attentive frame while being in movement. The body will be approached and put into practice as mediator, as a channel between different points of reference. The sessions will, most likely, suggest a progression from space to commonality, shaping ground from where to bring the ways we attend and are in relations into attention.

Most of the activities in this class will originate practices and exercises from Quim´s projects, such as APPRAISERS, D’ENÇÀ and VOY Y BAND.

We might work indoors or outdoors, depending on weather. We ask the participants to bring comfortable shoes.

….And then what….

The aim of the class is to work with a specific machinery in order to put in motion.

This class is based on the themes falling, pressing and the wiring and the question …and then what….

The class starts lying down and is sometimes followed by exercises by a wall. The floor and the wall is used to practice the above mentioned principles a.o and will work as co-workers during the first part of the class.

Short movement phrases across the floor will follow after the work on the floor and by the wall.

Technical training: from anatomy to form and vice versa

In this class, we will apply embodied anatomical knowledge to forms and patterns of movement stemming from ballet, modern and postmodern dance. When approaching these forms, we will not go through a process of mere reproduction; instead we will focus on physically and organically understanding the bodily mechanisms and relationships that underlie them.

Furthermore, you will work with using these known forms and patterns of movement for the sake of a somatic exploration. In this class, my intention is also to share with you the extensive body of knowledge I have had the chance to touch on within the field of somatic practices as well as through various dance techniques, including specific heritages from the French field of contemporary dance from the 90’s.

We will also incorporate specific aspects from Technosomatics, the dance practice I have created, which brings together an exploration of the endocrine system and the chakras by means of club dancing to techno with eyes closed.

This ballet class would like to serve not only as a healthy warm up but also as an instigation to search for organic movement within ballet.
