THE FESTIVAL CLOSE ENCOUNTERS VOL. 2
Topologie – an installation and performative processes in public spaces
by Annie Vigier & Franck Apertet (les gens d´Uterpan) (FR)
In Den Frie Centre of Contemporary Art, the Topologie graph is exhibited, and the location where the project takes place is displayed at a map.
Along with the graph there is a sound system that plays the soundtrack that accompanies the construction and execution of the «choreography». The audio piece is played over a free radio frequency usually broadcast in the area.
For several days the performers leave their home and go out into the public space, following an individual itinerary determined by the graph.
Each time they go out, they enter progressively into the organization and increasingly fastidious replica of their simple acts: gestures and physical, social behavior, the speed of their movements, etc.) The structure of the graph brings them together at certain specific places at precise times.
Each trip out ends with the performers returning home.
When and where
The Topologie project is part of the festival Close Encounter Vol. 2 but extends beyond the actual Festival April 4th – 7th. Topologie takes place for 10 days in the period April 2nd – 11th.
After the festival in the period April 8th – 11th, the installation is moved down to Café Polykrom at Den Frie and can be followed there in the cafe’s opening hours. In the same place there will be a closing talk with Topologie performers and Franck Apertet on April 11 April.
Close Encounters Vol. 2 – for the brave audience
4 intense days of present and participatory works, performances and installations, where we invite the audience to come closer. It all takes place at Den Frie Centre of Contemporary Art, with threads into the city of Copenhagen.

About Annie Vigier & Franck Apertet (les gens d´Uterpan)
They live and work in Paris. Under the generic title les gens d’Uterpan, they have developed creations focusing on experimentation.
Their action touches upon several points, by exploring, among other things, the limits of the human body and of representation. This process implies redefining the practice of dance and the function of the dancer. By appearing in different frameworks that reveal the action of the body, or by adapting to them, they provoke the conditions for a new reflection on the different methods of representation, production and interpretation of performance.
The interpretation of this physical presence also puts into question the positions of the spectator and the choreographer in these processes.
Initiated with innovative collaborations with cultural operators from different sectors, their action includes the economic aspect as part of the artistic project.
The fine arts sector accompanies this movement of opening up by sharing viewpoints and highlighting the answers provided to these issues.
