In it together – Close Encounters Vol. 2

THE FESTIVAL CLOSE ENCOUNTERS VOL. 2

IN IT TOGETHER
*Exercises for revolutionaries #3

*Exercises for revolutionaries is a series of hello!earth works, collectively exploring the sensing body as an activist.

IN IT TOGETHER is an investigation into the complex equation of distance and empathy, and the influence between the two.

Equipped with headphones, in a space with 35 people you are guided through a sequences of simple gestures and movements.

The soundscape invites you to inhabit a number of significant life moments and fragments of personal experiences gathered from a diverse group of people from near and far. These traces come to life in our own bodies and are re-lived as a collective experience. A contemporary ritual dedicated to the experience of a collective body and the expansion of our radius of empathy.

The events at Den Frie is simultaneously broadcasted live via a local radio station, extending the collective experience and giving everyone within a radius of 8 km. the opportunity to listen in -and to join the experience from their own livingroom. (Find the FM frequency here/on the website)

IN IT TOGETHER is based on an extensive research into meaning and moments of life. The moments were gathered with very diverse groups of people and translated into movement scores. The research was part of the community project “Dance your neighbour”, a co-production between Dansehallerne, Bora Bora and hello!earth and was presented in the village of Skjød as part of Cultural Capital Århus 2017.

About hello!earth
hello!earth creates participatory cross-disciplinary art works with relational approach, where the presence of the audience is the co-creating and central element. The base of the work is an inquiry into consciousness and an exploration of the myth of reality. An attempt to unfold the potential of possible relations between people and place and make interconnectedness and diversity tangible. The works are always spaces for an audience to experience, sense and do.
hello!earth insists on that art is a place for big and fragile visions. A laboratory space where new thoughts and ideas can become reality, and where we together create the world, instead of consuming it.
Current works are participatory walks and journeys in urban space and nature, site-specific installations & interventions, participatory works for larger groups, “do it yourself” works which unfold on your mobile phone as well as workshop-projects addressing community.
Since hello!earth was formed in 2007 we have done 15 works in 10 different countries and co-operated with leading art, theatre and dance institutions worldwide. To name a few, works were presented and produced at Mercat de les Flors in Barcelona, Panoramafestival in Rio de Janeiro, SESC in Sao Paulo , Palestinian National Theatre in Jerusalem,  and at Copenhagen international Theatre’s Metropolis Biennale.
