Forget all about the white clown, the dressed horses and the tripping magician. C!CAF shows international high-quality newcirkus art. Performances that interfere with you wherever the boundary between circus and art is revealed. Where something new and unique is created! Through a whole week, Kitt Johnson X-act, in collaboration with Dansehallerne, presents the first edition of the Copenhagen Circus Arts Festival, a New Circus Biennale, in Pakhus 11.

Circus Katoen (BE) / As heavy as it goes – Buy tickets
In As heavy as it goes Circus Katoen explores different aspects of physical labour. With the weight of 18 heavy bags as starting material they are looking to re-define their circus practice. As heavy as it goes is a composition of organizing and disorganizing, carrying and dropping and giving attention on finding playfulness when pushing their physical limits. Weight has always been a key element in Circus Katoen’s practice, especially working with the equilibrium of their two bodies. With this performance they want to grotesquely elaborate on this element by using the bags as a challenge.

Materia is a new development of Polystyrene Research supported by CHAMÄLEON Productions through a six-months residency program.

Contra is a solo, feminist-circus-comedy. It re-enacts bible stories and biology lessons using a rope and a roll of cling film. Laura Murphy sets her experiences of her own body amidst an anecdotal tapestry of body hair observations on public transport and dinner table discussions about lesbian sex. Witty and uncompromising – Contra interrogates personal, social and historical occupations of the female body, and explores – literally – where such bodies are positioned and how we are meant to look at them.
Age rating: 16+ (nudity, references to sex)

Animal Religion (CAT) / FANG – Buy tickets
The earth is like a means of transport where things appear and disappear and FANG (MUD) leads us to a constant transformation from the empty space to a world full of strange creatures in which the human and the mud are one single thing.

+ Grensgeval Workshop
Where: AFUK, Enghavevej 82B, 2450 SV

30. – 31. of March 2019
Grensgeval (NL) / DK-premiere – Buy tickets
Camiel tries to copy the painting of his hero Jackson Pollock. But how can he make the right blot on the right spot? Should he drip, throw, pour or splash the paint? Does he need to work with brushes, sticks, or entire containers? He uses all his body parts, but no matter how he twists, turns, jumps, or rolls: his painting does not resemble the original. Plock! is visual circus-sound theatre that appeals to all the senses. With buzzing cans, dancing paint, coloured sounds, and an acrobatic painter. A performance for everyone who like to colour outside the lines every now and then.

During the festival Pakhus 11 will function as a festival center and stage, AFUK (Akademiet for Uhæmmet Kreativitet) will host different workshops.
