Rarely, you get a chance to get to know your neighbors in a new way! With the project Dans din Nabo (Dance your neighbor), the artists from hello!earth recreate dance as a social gathering place. A participatory and poetic experience created with locals based on moments where movement and community have meant something in our lives.
Dans din Nabo builds on activities with neighbourhoods and movement workshops leading up to a participatory piece that will be open for the audience.
The project is created at Vesterbro and in a small village of Skjød in Farverskov Kommune, 40 km from Aarhus from May to October 2017 as a part of Arhus Cultural Capital 2017.
Premiere and performances was in Skjød Forsamlingshus September 22 to October 6 2017. Performances in Copenhagen presented Dansehallerne will be in Spring 2019.
The goal of Dans din Nabo is to create a community between people of different ages, ethnicity, resources and attitudes. Together, the participants will experience a new and different relationship with dance, choreography and performing arts, and hopefully create a foundation for a strengthened community.
hello!earth creates participatory cross-disciplinary art works with relational approach, where the presence of the audience is the co-creating and central element. Since hello!earth was formed in 2007 they have done 15 works in 10 different countries and co-operated with leading art, theatre and dance institutions worldwide.
