Training

Magalí Camps
Body Polyphony

In this class, we will dive into how different physical principles shape each other as we engage the body in relation to gravity, rhythm, and touch. The sessions will be anchored in physical patterning, floorwork, and body logics that foreground concepts such as intention, attention, density, structure, sensation and musicality.

Over the course of the week, we will explore the mechanics of dance through concepts such as weight, resistance, and pressure – felt in the actions of pushing and pulling, catching and throwing, noticing and responding. These will be investigated in solo and partnered formats, including assisted solos, couple dancing, and ensemble drills across space. We will treat dancing as both craft and state, working with exercises that invite softness, tension, paradox and multiplicity. You can expect a mix of open-ended explorations and precise tasks.

The work will be social, musical and physical, expect to move and sweat!

The classes are held at Dansehallerne, Franciska Clausens Plads 27 DK-1799 Copenhagen V in Studio 3.

Getting there
Studio 3 is located on the ground floor with step-free access from the main entrance.

Dansehallerne has an elevator with step-free access to all floors. Accessible and gender-neutral toilets and wardrobes are available on the ground floor.

We kindly ask you to arrive 15 minutes prior to class in time for check-in with the QR code on your ticket.

All members can participate in Dansehallerne’s training activities – a year-round program with approximately 5 days of training per week and now also workshops every other week. This is for all professional members regardless of background in dance training, and it is also possible to participate in a drop-in class.

International guests can participate in training for free for up to 1 month. If you have comments or good tips for the training program, you can always send an email to the curators; trainingcurator@dansehallerne.dk

Matter in Motion

Begin your day with a sensorial awakening and imaginative movement practice. Sense. Feel Imagine. Become matter in motion

Throughout the week, we will explore how to move through imaginary landscapes and embody more-than-human beings. Through somatic listening, improvisation, and guided visualizations, we will tune into the body’s subtle layers and go beyond habitual patterns of movement and perception.

You will move alone and with others, exploring relational movement, resonance, and responsiveness. Practices include vibrations, touch, breath synchrony, and nurturing embraces to create shifting landscapes of connection between humans and materials.

This is a shared space for care, attunement, and playful transformation. The practice supports sensory presence, deep listening, and renewed relational awareness, offering tools you can carry into dancing, performing, and choreographing.

Come as you are, with openness and curiosity. You are welcome to bring a notebook.

Movement Research

During these morning classes, you may expect to enter a kaleidoscopic movement practice of following desires and updating our systems and habits of movement. Through improvisational scores and set movement patterns we will dive into the concept of desire and investigat where this massive resource comes from. With references from my artistic practice and the offbeat, we will play around with notions of seeing/ being seen, inhabit postures of character, disrupt rhythm and create general rehearsals. Accompanied by a strengthening and opening warm-up, we will find a way to stay warm and regenerate methods of drive.

Asymmetrical-Motion /  A Dance methodology

These classes take place in close collaboration with Danish Dance Theatre, and we are happy to be able to offer the classes in the Danish Dance Theatres studio. In this case, the studio is at the Opera, Ekvipagemestervej 10, 1438 Copenhagen K.

Through a variety of perspectives, this movement methodology investigates the agility of the body in its movement in and through space.

The methodology builds on understanding agility as the most efficient mode to use the skeletal structure in relation to musculature and gravity.

We investigate the asymmetries of the body, the majority of which exist within the spine, more specifically in the relationship between skull, ribcage and pelvis.

We investigate the support and distributions of weight in order to find an inertia produced by the relation between forces and counterweights.

We work with the possibility of perceiving space as infinitely open, vast and three-dimensional, a place where the body will move.

The basis of this methodology is observing what happens when we place ourselves in relation to different materials (observing what happens in one’s own body and the bodies of others). From there we use deduction to incorporate and learn from both the individual’s and the group’s experiences. In this way, we aim to understand  the experience of dance as pleasure produced in the moment of discovery.

When you arrive to the Opera, please go to the stage entrance, a big grey sliding door, and enter the reception. We kindly ask you to be there no later than 15 minutes before the class. In this way, you’ll have time to find your way to the studio and get your QR code on the ticket scanned.

Malmö Dance Week

Alice Martucci
Dancing with Memory

In this week of morning training, I will share a core part of my choreographic practice: the memory scores. These scores are simple, yet deeply attentive structures that I have developed over time as the foundation of several of my works. They invite an encounter between dancing and remembering—where memory is not merely recalled but becomes an active force in shaping movement.

Through the scores, we will practice moving with memories, allowing them to form our dancing, and letting dancing, in turn, awaken memories. Some scores will invite solo dancing while others will guide us into shared practices.

The sessions will offer space to connect with what feels absent, what longs to be remembered, or what needs to be met—whether from the past, the present, or even the not-yet. Together, we will explore how memories – personal, collective, or imagined – may become a ground for both movement and relation. This is not a therapeutic practice, though it may touch sensitive places. It is an artistic inquiry into how memory shapes dance, and how dance can become an act of collective remembering.

Alice Martucci is a Copenhagen-based choreographer, dancer, and performance artist
working with dance, memory, and imagination. She holds an MFA in Choreography and
BAs in Dance and Theatre Studies. Her works—including Homemade Remedy for
Patching Time (2024), Amulets (2023), and Ragunasi (2022)—often weave personal
histories with cultural narratives. She has performed with artists such as Alice Chauchat,
Sara Hamming, Éva Mag, and Nønne Svalholm, and has participated in several
collaborative projects with for example Danseatelier.

let dance do the dance

The training sessions I propose aim to create a space of presence and observation. Drawing from craniosacral biodynamics and methodologies rooted in somatic and improvisational movement practices, you will be guided through task-based explorations and group dynamics to modulate and direct attention, while cradling the dance that unfolds.

We will dive into our perception of space (inner and outer) and let it shape the body.

We will include the outside gaze in our awareness, as we invite being seen.

We will give support to the group by being present and generous with each other.

We will attune to detail, sensitivity and the possibility of pausing.

You can expect to work with touch and close proximity to other participants. Bring a notebook, and water 🙂

The classes are held at Dansehallerne, Franciska Clausens Plads 27 DK-1799 Copenhagen V in Studio 3.

Getting there
Studio 3 is located on the ground floor with step-free access from the main entrance.
Continue straight on towards the changing rooms next to the Foyer. Studio 3 is located at the bottom right corner.
