Dance on the curriculum

Dance on the curriculum

Dance can help to stimulate a child’s musical, spatial and bodily intelligence and it has a positive influence on secondary learning. It should therefore be taken for granted that children experience dance in school. This is not a reality. Dansescenen is trying to change this.

Since 1998 we have offered dance projects as part of the timetable for periods of six months for reception to year 3, and more intensive dance workshops for older children in years 4 to 7 to schools in Copenhagen.
The teaching is planned in collaboration with the pupil’s own teachers who are also active participants in the classes.
Every school project ends with a School Dance day where the pupils perform at Dansescenen.
